HANDWRITING CAMP IS RETURNING ! July 15-July 19 10:00 am-12:00 noon (2 hours a day for five days) $450
Redwood Pediatric Therapy Associates is pleased to offer a handwriting camp for children who need extra support (targeted age approximately 6-11 years). The group offered will have a ratio of no greater than 3 students to one adult. Groups are led by an occupational therapist and certified occupational therapy assistant.
A minimum of 6 students per camp is required; in the event of fewer sign-ups, the camp may be cancelled.
We will start with Level 1, but if there is sufficient interest, a second camp may be offered. Please call the office and let us know if you are interested in Level 1 or 2.
Level 1 Target skills: This program is specifically designed for children who have been identified as having fine motor/handwriting challenges. It is appropriate for children who can benefit from small group instruction and can cooperate with peers and follow directions. A kinesthetic approach will be used, incorporating writing into large motor experiences in the gym. The program is individualized, as each child’s key areas of need, in the forming of letters, will be identified, and will be addressed through guided activities and fun daily worksheets.
Level 2 Target skills: Building upon previously attained foundational skills, this camp is for children who can form all of their alphabet letters from memory, and are working on sentence legibility. It is appropriate for children who can benefit from small group instruction and can cooperate with peers and follow directions. Kids will be motivated to enjoy writing/communicating through a variety of writing experiences. As with the first session, this program will continue to utilize kinesthetic and sensory strategies, including large motor experiences in the gym, to facilitate fine motor skills and visual-motor skills.
